About John Maciejczyk
John Maciejczyk is a veteran prosecutor and longtime St. Joseph County resident with more than three decades of legal experience. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, John served as a Surface Warfare Officer, tracking Soviet submarines during the Cold War and later teaching anti-submarine warfare tactics.
After earning his law degree and serving as a federal judicial clerk, John returned to South Bend, where he built a distinguished career prosecuting serious crimes, including murder, violent offenses, and complex felony cases. He served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor in St. Joseph County, later worked in the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office, and spent more than 20 years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana. During his career, John also taught cyber crime law at the law school for approximately 11 years.
Throughout his career, John has remained committed to public service, justice, and protecting communities. A husband, father of six, and grandfather of two, John believes the prosecutor’s office must work hand-in-hand with law enforcement, operate with transparency, and uphold the law with integrity and fairness.
